Micro Needling, also known as Skin Needling or Derma Rolling, is one of the hottest treatments within the skincare industry at the moment, but do you know what it is? Keep reading to find out how one simple treatment can transform your skin forever!
What is skin needling?
Micro Needling is a ground-breaking treatment that triggers the skins own healing response by creating micro wounds to the skin. These micro wounds are caused by lots of mini, ultra-fine surgical steel needles that penetrate into your skin lightly. These micro wounds are painless but trigger the production of collagen and elastin within the skin, which leads to formation of new layers of thicker, smoother and overall firmer skin.
What to expect during Micro Needling procedure?
Before having Micro Needling completed, your Dermal Therapist will cleanse your skin of any impurities. After cleansing, the Micro Needling treatment begins. Your Dermal Therapist will start on your foreground, moving the Dermapen Micro Needling tool over separate sections of your face in a cross-hatching pattern – ensuring not one section is missed. The Dermal Therapist may also put an active solution over your face and then proceed to needle it into your skin for added benefits. After the procedure is complete, a soothing face mask is then provided to help calm your skin after the treatment.
What does the skin needling feel like?
A common misconception is that Micro Needling is painful because people hear the word ‘needle’. In reality, Micro Needling isn’t too painful, your skin just feels hot and the needles themselves feel like a light scratch. Some clinics even use numbing cream, but the anaesthetic in the numbing cream causes blood vessels to constrict therefore not showing the skins immediate response to the micro wound which means there is a high chance of the area being over or under treated.
